Movie Theme Party For Teens – 3 Fun Mega-Hit Ideas For A Birthday Party With A Hollywood Theme
He had taught a curriculum based on the joy of learning rather than imposing strict discipline, and had sought to extend a more sympathetic and compassionate pastoral care than he had found in the Catholic Church of his time. He had set up many schools throughout the world, and after his death had been made into a saint. His remains appeared to be on a grand tour of the countries where he had established schools, and this was a celebration by the children of the Don Bosco school in Sucre.
I thought I had seen the end of the Don Bosco celebrations but that evening there was a second parade of children from the school, accompanied by a military band. All the children carried lighted candles, and were on their way to the cathedral to attend a special Don Bosco mass.
The festivities appeared to be continuing the following morning, when I was awoken by the sound of another band marching past my window and another procession of children. The strangeness of the situation was enhanced further by the fact that I could clearly make out that they were playing “We All Live in A Yellow Submarine”.
As I went out into the street to investigate, however, I realised that this was nothing to do with Don Bosco. These children were dressed in red and black, not blue and yellow. They did not parade into the main square but down a smaller street past a large white colonial style building. I saw that above the doors to this building were the words “Adolfe Siles Collegio”, and that outside there was a large photograph of Adolfe Siles, set against a white lace tablecloth.
Evidently this school did not wish to be outdone by their local rival, the Don Bosco Collegio, and were having their own founder’s celebration the day after the Don Bosco event. It was unclear whether this was to ensure that these children did not feel left out or whether the teachers at this school decided that Don Bosco was not going to get all the glory for bringing education to the city of Sucre.
It struck me for a moment as quite humorous to wonder what would happen if these two rival factions should accidentally have met going opposite directions along the same street due to some quite likely administrative blunder from the city authorities. I decided it would probably have been a somewhat unChristian affair.

What struck me most however was the great and genuine sense of pride that the children seemed to show in their school and in their city. After both celebrations the children remained in the streets, chatting and enjoying themselves. Despite the medievalism of the main event, parading the relic of a saint around the city, it occurred to me that such an event was exceptionally unlikely to occur in England. Local authorities would probably refuse to give it permission, teachers would decide that it was too risky to have children walking in the street with the traffic and the children would have little enthusiasm for celebrating education, the man who founded their school or the city in general.
Whether your fundraising group is big or small, now is the time to gather them together and have a meeting about how to make your fundraiser a success. Because money is tight for everyone, it is very important for you as the group leader to involve your members in choosing a fundraiser that they and you think will be one that your community will be willing and able to support. In the past, candle fundraisers may have done well in your area but now, maybe people’s priorities shifting has led to them not wanting to make these purchases.

After reveling in a mountaintop experience, it often takes one a couple of days to not only regain altitude and perspective; it takes a little while to fully grasp what–exactly–just happened.

Such was our trip to France.
Escorting thirty-six young musicians to Paris for a three-concert tour proved to be an amazing experience which I cannot fully communicate in this Newsletter. My words will fall short; our pictures will miss most of it; and stories re-told with enthusiasm to eagerly awaiting family members will only reveal a glimpse of the experience. What happens when vision meets strategy, passion meets energy, and divine inspiration meets faith cannot be comprehended by those missing the mountaintop. But because it is now part of who I am, I feel moved to attempt to share it with you. youth choir uniforms.
